Amboseli is located in a semi-arid part of the country and is usually hot and dry, the park is comprised of open plains, savannah with areas of beautiful yellow barked acacia woodland, swamp.
Amboseli is the Masaai word for “dust devils” which are common in this area, nevertheless the park is quite lush in places, because of the melting snows of Kilimanjaro flowing underground into the park, continually feeding water to springs, swamps and marshes. situated 250Kms from Nairobi the park lies in Masailand at the foot of the majestic snow capped Mt. Kilimanjaro (the highest Mountain in Africa) which looks as though it is in the park. There are a few predators lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and jackals.
