Day 02: Kigali | Bisate Lodge, Volcanoes National Park
This morning, you'll depart from the Kigali Serena Hotel and transfer to the luxurious Bisate Lodge for a three-night stay. Nestled within a 27-hectare amphitheater of an eroded volcanic cone, Bisate Lodge offers breathtaking views of the Karisimbi, Bisoke, and Mikeno volcanoes. Its proximity to Kinigi, the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters, makes it ideal for morning gorilla treks, while its remote location and on-site reforestation project create a serene and immersive experience.

Day 03: Gorilla Trekking
At 6am, you'll be collected from Bisate Lodge for an exhilarating Gorilla Tracking excursion. The trek begins in the cultivated foothills of the Virungas, offering stunning views. As you enter the national park, you'll follow paths marked by fresh spoor of buffalo and elephant, immersing yourself in the vibrant rainforest, alive with bird calls and butterflies. Upon encountering the rare and critically endangered mountain gorillas, you'll spend a magical hour observing them as they feed, play, rest, and nurture their young. Facing a giant silverback is truly one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences on earth. After the trek, return to Bisate Lodge for lunch, followed by a serene Nature Walk.

Day 04: Golden Monkey Tracking
Early in the morning, you'll depart from Bisate Lodge for a Golden Monkey Tracking expedition. These beautiful primates, with their golden bodies, cheeks, and tails contrasted by black limbs and crowns, live in social groups of up to 30. Their diet primarily consists of leaves and fruit, though they are also believed to eat insects. Golden monkeys are restricted to the highland forests of the Virungas, particularly near bamboo, sharing this habitat with the mountain gorillas. Both species face threats from snares and human encroachment, and are listed as critically endangered by the IUCN. The tracking expedition usually lasts 2 to 4 hours. Upon finding a group, you'll spend one hour observing them as they frolic, feed on bamboo leaves, and leap from perch to perch, while females carry their young. After returning to Bisate Lodge for lunch, you'll embark on a tour of the Musanze Caves. Formed over centuries by volcanic activity, these 1.25-mile-long caves offer a fascinating glimpse into Rwanda's geological history. Guided tours, lasting about 2.5 hours, explain the caves' formation and historical uses, including as shelters during times of war. This tour is a great addition to your adventure.
